Fitness with Vicky D

Chile, how much time do you really have? Let’s get one thing clear from the top. This is probably the most sensitive subject for me, well really for anyone. Which is why we’re going to talk about it. Fitness has become an outlet for me, a form of therapy, a spiritual experience if you will where I push myself outside my comfort zone to a space where gains and growth are found.

A few years after I received my lactose intolerant diagnosis, I also found all of the pounds I lost after senior year of college. After yo-yo weight gain and loss and “I’m losing weight for INSERT SOME BIG EVENT HERE,” I decided to *GASP* make a lifestyle change. I made my health, my life, and my future a priority and started a journey that not only changed how I looked, but how I felt.

I was never the athlete

I was always the smart one, the girl with a big brain who honestly just loved to learn. Not much has changed on the education front, but my perception of fitness and athleticism has evolved. Our society has created the idea of what a fitness enthusiast and an athlete looks like, but let’s make one thing perfectly clear – you can be an athlete. (Repeat that until you believe it!) You are strong. Your body is capable of anything you want it to do; it’s your mind you have to convince.

Now, there’s nothing I won’t try.

I make it my mission to try any fitness format at least once and enjoys traveling around to different studio and classes in Dallas. My faves are HIIT (high intensity interval training) like a bootcamp, strength training and my new obsession is spin class because that’s basically like church on a bike. I ran two half marathons (and you can too!). I lost about 60 pounds, gained some of it back and now on a journey to be my healthiest self.

You are welcome here

Wherever you are in your fitness journey, whether you’re putting on tennis shoes for the first time or about to compete in your umpteenth marathon, you are welcome here. We’re going to do it all. We’re going to try it out. We’re going to sweat it out. Most importantly, we’re going to find a way to be stronger today, than we were yesterday.

You have nothing to lose, except feelings of self-doubt, low self-esteem, negative body image and perhaps a few extra unneeded lbs. The gains are waiting.

You ready? Let do it  – move our bodies, break a little sweat and of course ALWAYS pick up the heavier weight.
